Scientists on board
As many as 22 scientists will board the G.O. Sars in Bergen on July 16th. Their backgrounds are diverse and cover all fields required to investigate the geobiology of the hydrothermal systems in the Arctic ocean, from the large-scale geological processes in the mantle below the ridges to the small-scale biological and chemical processes on the seafloor. Teamwork is the key to this area of interdisciplinary research, but each scientist has their own dedicated tasks and knows exactly what to do once samples are brought on deck.
